6.3 Reefing and unrolling the sail
Warning
Risk of injury
−
Make sure the area around the furling system is clear before switching on the system.
−
The operator must have an adequate view of the furling system and the sail. If this is
not possible, a second person with an adequate view must maintain visual contact with
the operator.
−
Immediately stop the furling system if the sheet jams or the halyard starts wrapping.
Notice
Risk of damage to furling system
Jamming of the furling system will damage it.
−
Only reef or unfurl the sail with an eased sheet.
−
The halyard must be tensioned.
To reef or unfurl ease the sheet and actuate the corresponding switch.
In very light winds keep the sheet slightly tensioned so that the sail will furl tightly.
In strong winds ease the sheet stepwise and reef the sail.
Stop reefing when the sheet has been rolled once or twice around the sail.
