8-FILLING WITH HEAT TRANSFER FLUID
FILLING
The solar system must be filled with pre-mixed heat transfer fluid.
Operating method:
• Check that all of the connections are tightened
• Check the pressure of the expansion vessel on its own before putting the system into operation. If necessary, adjust the vessel to
2.5 bar.
• Open the flow and return ballcock on the solar station to 45°. This will activate the deadweight brakes
• Close the socket head screw of the flow regulator
• Connect the pipes of the filling station with the corresponding ballcocks
• Open all of the other valves (if present)
• Adjust the switch valve (if present) to “manual”, then switch the outlets during filling
• The solar system can now be filled in both directions. Keep monitoring the pressure gauge
• Do not rinse/ fill the solar system in direct sunlight
• The filling procedure has been successful if the fluid returns to the tank clean, with no air bubbles,
• The operating pressure must be at least 3 bar.
• Close the filling and emptying valves and fully open the flow regulator
• Open the ball valves and adjust the switch valve (if present) to “automatic”
• The solar system is now ready for operation
Due to their structure, collectors can never be fully emptied afterwards (vapour and ice may cause damage). Collectors
must therefore be rinsed with the glycol mixture. Only RED solar heat transfer fluid must be used on our collectors.

FILLING THE SOLAR SYSTEM
The pressure of the solar system must be 0.5 bar greater than the stationary pressure of the solar expansion vessel (as shown on the label).
We recommend a pressure of 3 bar for the solar system.
We recommend that you use the RED solar filling and washing station to fill and bleed the solar system.
PUMP ADJUSTMENT
Set the pump on the solar adjustment control unit to “manual”. Rotate the socket head screw of the flow regulator fully to the left. Now it
is fully open. Set the pump to power level II and measure the flow on the flow meter. If necessary, vary the power level until you reach the
calculated flow value (see flow adjustment).
Recommendation: always reduce the power level of the pump before reducing the flow for energy saving reasons! The flow regulator
valve remains fully open.
See the solar control unit and solar pump station manual.
