Clean or replace the spark arrestor mesh on the muffler.

Clean the fuel tank.

Do a check of the fuel filter for contamination and the fuel hose for cracks or oth-
er defects. Replace if neccessary.

Do a check of the clutch, clutch springs and the clutch drum for wear. Replace if
neccessary by an autorized service workshop.

Replace the spark plug. Make sure that the spark plug is fitted with a suppres-
sor.

Carburettor
This RedMax product is designed to reduce harmful
exhaust fumes. The engine will be run-in after you have
used 10 tanks of fuel. Contact your dealer/service agent
to adjust the carburettor to ensure that the engine run at
peak performance and produces as little harmful
exhaust fumes as possible after the running-in period.
To adjust the idle speed
WARNING: Read the warning instructions in
the safety chapter before you start the

WARNING: If the cutting attachment rotates
when the engine is at idle speed, the idle
speed must be adjusted.
1. Make sure that the air filter is clean.
2. Make sure that the air filter cover is in position.
3. Turn the idle adjustment screw (T) clockwise until
the cutting attachment starts to rotate.

4. Turn the idle adjustment screw (T) counterclockwise
until the cutting attachment stops.
WARNING: The idle speed must be
below the speed when the cutting
attachment starts to turn.
5. Make sure the engine run smoothly.
To clean/do maintenance on the
cooling system
This product has a cooling system. A dirty or blocked
cooling system can make the product to too hot which
will do damage to the piston and cylinder. Check and
clean the cooling system with a brush one time each
week or more frequently in demanding conditions. The
cooling system consists of air openings.

To examine the spark plug
CAUTION: Always use the recommended
spark plug type. Incorrect spark plug type
can cause damage to the product.
• Examine the spark plug if the engine is low on
power, is not easy to start or does not operate
correctly at idle speed.
• To decrease the risk of unwanted material on the
spark plug electrodes, obey these instructions:
a) Make sure that the idle speed is correctly
adjusted.
b) Make sure that the fuel mixture is correct.
c) Make sure that the air filter is clean.
