• Function #1, green LED flashes 1x short: Drive function
In this settings menu the speed controller can be switched between "forwards/brake" and "forwards/brake/reverse"
(reverse driving can be switched off).
• Function #2, green LED flashes 2x short: Handbrake
The handbrake function stops the vehicle from rolling when on an uneven surface or slope. The higher the set value
of the handbrake function, the less the vehicle rolls when it is resting on a slope. A standard electric motor - at rest -
has a certain amount of braking strength due to the magnets it contains - a brushless electric motor, however, does
not.
Settable values are 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, 30%, 40%.
• Function #3, green LED flashes 3x short: Undervoltage protection
If LiPo rechargeable batteries are used, then you must ensure that the low-voltage protection is activated (e.g. 3.0V
per cell).
If the low-voltage protection is activated, the speed controller unit measures the rechargeable battery voltage
immediately after it is switched on. At a voltage lower than 9.0V, the unit assumes that a 2-cell LiPo rechargeable
battery is in place, at voltages between 9.0 and 12V it assumes that a 3-cell LiPo rechargeable battery is in place.
If the rechargeable battery voltage is lower than the set value (e.g. 3.0V per cell, power cut-out at 6.0V when 2-cell
LiPo rechargeable battery is used), the motor is shut off in order to protect the battery.
If NiMH batteries are used, the voltage for switching off depends on the voltage of the NiMH battery. For a NiMH
battery voltage below 9.0V, the switch-off voltage of a 2-cell LiPo rechargeable battery is used (e.g. 2x 2.6V = 5.2V).
For a NiMH battery voltage over 9.0V, the switch-off voltage of a 3-cell LiPo rechargeable battery is used (e.g. 3x
2.6V = 7.8V). Example: NiMH battery with 6 cells and approx 8.0V (rechargeable battery fully charged), undervoltage
protection for LiPo programmed to 2.6V -> Switch-off at 5.2V for this NiMH battery.
Attention!
Generally, the speed controller may also be operated with 3-cell LiPo batteries or 9-cell NiMH driving
batteries. However, the engine is only suitable for 2-cell LiPo batteries or 6-cell NiMH driving batteries.
Otherwise, it will be overloaded!
• Function #4, green LED flashes 4x short: Start mode when driving off
Depending on this setting, the start is performed more or less powerful. Note that the two settings "fast" and "very
fast" require a high-quality rechargeable battery capable of providing the appropriate current during take off.
• Function #5, green LED flashes 1x long: Maximum braking strength
The speed controller unit allows proportional braking strength depending on the setting of the transmitter lever. The
maximum braking power at full lever extension can be adjusted to 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%.
A high setting (e.g. 100%) decreases braking distance but has a negative effect on the lifetime of the cogs (drive
pinion gear, main gear and differential gears).
