b) Operation
• The instructions for the remote control and charger are included separately. Always follow all the safety
information as well as all other information! Numerous hazards are associated with improper handling of
the battery charger.
•
Only use suitable drive batteries for the vehicle. Never power the speed controller with a power adapter,
even for test purposes.
• This vehicle is only suitable for use with a 6-cell NiMH battery (nominal voltage 7.2 V) or a 2-cell LiPo
drive battery (nominal voltage 7.4 V).
Drive batteries with more cells may cause a risk of fire due to speed controller overheating, which may
result in the vehicle drive (e.g. gears) being overloaded and eventually damaged. This will void the
warranty!
Warning!
The NiMH battery charger should only be used to charge a NiMH drive battery. Attempting to
charge a LiPo drive battery with the NiMH battery charger may cause a fire or explosion!
A LiPo drive battery should only be charged with a suitable LiPo battery charger (and a NiMH recharge-
able battery with a NiMH battery charger only). So if you want to purchase a LiPo drive battery for the
vehicle, you will also need a suitable LiPo battery charger.
Always ensure that you use the correct type of battery charger.
• When putting the device into operation always turn on the transmitter first. Only then can the drive
battery of the vehicle be connected to the speed controller and the speed controller be switched on.
Otherwise, the vehicle might react unpredictably.
Proceed as follows:
- Before connecting the drive battery, place the vehicle on a suitable surface so that all wheels can
move freely.
- Switch off the speed controller.
- Switch on the transmitter, if you have not already done so. Check that it functions correctly (e.g.
transmitter's operating display).
- On the transmitter, set the trim for the throttle/brake function to the central position.
- Connect a fully-charged drive battery to the speed controller with the correct polarity.
-
Turn on the speed controller. Wait for a few seconds until the speed controller has completed a self-
test.
-
Check that the vehicle responses to the remote control commands as expected (steering and throttle)
before removing it from the support and placing the wheels on the ground.
