15. Repairing the malfunctions
Although the model has been built to the latest state of the art technology, malfunctions or faults may happen. There-
fore we would like to show you how you can eliminate any possible faults. Observe also the separate operating
instructions accompanying the remote control system.
The model does not respond or does not respond properly
•
The receiver must be tuned to the transmitter by the 2.4 GHz radio control system. This process is denoted e.g. by
the English terms „binding“ or „pairing“. The tuning procedure has normally been carried out by the manufacturer;
however, you can naturally perform it as well. For this operation, observe the separate operating instructions ac-
companying the remote control system.
•
Is the vehicle‘s drive battery or are the batteries/rechargeable batteries in the transmitter empty? Replace drive
battery or the batteries/rechargeable batteries in the transmitter with new ones.
• Did you turn on the transmitter first and then the speed controller? the speed controller does not work for safety
reasons if the order is reversed.
•
Is the drive battery properly connected to the speed controller? Check the plug connection whetherit is dirty or
oxidised.
•
Is the vehicle too far away? With full drive battery and fully charged batteries/rechargeable batteries in the trans-
mitter a range of 50 m and more should be achieved. However, this may be reduced by environmental influences,
such as interferences of the transmission frequency or the proximity of other stations (not only remote control
transmitters, but also WLAN / Bluetooth devices that also use a transmission frequency of 2.4 GHz), or metal parts,
buildings etc.
The position of the transmitter and receiver antenna to each other has a very strong influence on the range. It is
optimal if both the sender and the receiver antenna are vertical (and both antennas are parallel to each other).
However, when aiming the transmitter antenna at the vehicle the result is a very short range!
•
Check the correct position of the speed controller‘s and the steering servo‘s plugs in the receiver. If the plugs are
inserted and rotated by 180°, the speed controller and steering servo do not work.
On the other hand, if the plugs of the speed controller and steering were reversed against each other, the gas/brake
lever controls the steering servo and the rotary wheel controls the drive function!
The vehicle is decelerating or the steering servo shows only low or no reaction; the range between the
transmitter and the vehicle is just very short
•
The drive battery is weak or empty.
The power supply of the receiver and therefore also that of the steering servos is via the BEC of the speed controller.
A weak or empty drive battery results in an improper operation of the receiver. Replace the drive battery with a new
fully charged drive battery (before that, pause 5 - 10 minutes so the motor and the speed controller can cool down).
•
Check the batteries/rechargeable batteries in the transmitter.
