15. Other functions of the app
a) Core Functions
Indicators of altitude, distance, speed, position with GPS coordinates and values of the controls are shown in Figure
16, no. 2.
In Figure 16, no. 3, you can see the remaining capacity of the quadcopter rechargeable battery as a percentage. A
fully charged rechargeable battery is displayed with 100%. This value decreases during flight operation. For safety
reasons, the model automatically initiates a landing process below a certain percentage value. For this purpose, the
model ascends to a safe altitude and returns straight to the starting point to land there.
Figure 16, no. 4 shows a bar graph indicator of the video signal received from the quadcopter. The more bars are
displayed, the higher the reception strength.
In Figure 16, no. 5, you can see the display of the current location via Google Maps. If you touch the display briefly,
the video image will become small and the Google Maps display will become large. The Google Maps display can be
changed otherwise; for further information, please refer to this chapter.
The icon (no. 20, "VR") shown in the right-hand row in Figure 16 creates a split image on the smartphone display. If
you select the aforementioned icon, a 3D-like function will be enabled.
The camera image now has its live view divided into two parts on the smartphone display. FPV operation can be
performed virtually in 3D (i.e. with spatial perception) in conjunction with a virtual reality headset ("VR headset" is
not included and is available separately). Activate the 3D function in the app and place your smartphone into the VR
glasses (see its operating instructions). Put on the VR glasses and start the flight operation.
When operating the model with a VR headset, it is advisable to be monitored by a co-pilot. The co-pilot can
keep you updated on the current flight situation and assist you with orientation. Also keep in mind that in
different countries, FPV operation is only allowed with a co-pilot.
