15. Maintenance, Servicing and Repair
a) Regular Cleaning
The "Gravity FPV" quadrocopter is a very simple model aircraft. There are no mechanical parts that require lubrica
-
tion or other maintenance. Nevertheless, you should clean any possible dirt (woollen threads, hair, dust, etc.) off the
quadrocopter after each flight.
Use a dry or slightly dampened cloth for cleaning and do not allow the electronics, rechargeable battery and motors
to come into contact with water.
b) Replacing the rotors
If a rotor is damaged by a fall or other impact, you should replace it immediately. This is also true if you notice fine
cracks or hairline cracks in the rotor. Due to the high rotational speed, these parts can become detached from dam
-
aged rotors and lead to damage or endangerment of the environment.
To replace a rotor, first remove the screw in the centre of the rotor. Then carefully lift it off the motor shaft (as shown
in figure 18). Now attach the new rotor. Make sure that the direction of rotation of the rotor (see underside of the
rotor - e.g. "A") matches the indicated direction of rotation of the motor (see figure 19). Do this carefully and without
using too much force.
Attention!
Always observe the markings in figure 19 and choose the corresponding rotor (markings on the rotor). It
is extremely important that a rotor marked "A" is mounted on a wing that is also marked "A". If this is done
incorrectly (e.g. wing= A, rotor = B), the model is not airworthy and it will lead to malfunctions when the
model is started! This will void the warranty/guarantee.
