In ancient China and other Asian countries, rice was traditionally
prepared in bamboo steamers. Here rice and other delicacies are
gently cooked by the rising steam alone. Delicious fl avours and
valuable nutrients are thus preserved.

CLEANING
1. Wash the rice in a bowl of cold water in a circular motion.
Drain the water and repeat the process 2-3 times until the wa-
ter is clear. Then cover the rice with water and let it soak.
2. Pour off the water. Cover the bottom of the bamboo steamer
with the cotton cloth provided, pour the rice into the basket
and close it with the lid. Repeat with the second basket if you
want to cook rice in both baskets at the same time.
3. Fill a saucepan with water about 2 cm high. Place the bamboo
steamer in the pot - the basket has a special bottom heel for
this purpose. Alternatively, you can also place it on the upper
edge of a smaller pot.
4. Bring the water to boil on high setting. Then put it down on me-
dium heat. If too much water is boiled away during cooking,
add a little more water - the bamboo basket should never
stand directly on the bottom of the pot.
5. Once the rice is cooked, remove the basket from the pot, lift
the lid and serve the rice directly in the basket.
TIP
You can also cook vegetables, dumplings, fi sh or meat in the
bamboo steamer. To do this, simply cover the base with cotton cloth,
baking paper, salad or banana leaves and place the food on top.
When cooking rice together with other food, they give it an
additional fl avour. You will fi nd the instructions on the last page.
After use simply rinse the bamboo steamer with hot water. You
can use some dishwasher if necessary. Pat dry with a cloth and
place in a spot protected from sunlight to dry.
