k) Synchronisation of the Playback Speed
To mix or cross-fade two signal sources cleanly, the beats have to be synchronised in many cases.
This can be achieved in three ways:
• Using the PITCH slider (26). It allows you to permanently modify the speed. This function is used when
two tracks have two completely different tempos.
• Using buttons PITCH BEND +/- (27). This allows you to change the speed temporarily. This function is
used when two tracks have the same beat but the starting point has to be synchronised.
• Using the jog wheel (14). By turning the wheel, you can change the speed temporarily. The speed change
depends on how quickly the JOG wheel is turned. This function can also be used when two tracks have
the same beat but the starting point has to be synchronised.
To determine the beats per minute (BPM) of a title, push the TAP button (30) in the rhythm of the music. The
display shows the beats per minute (BPM)on the right.
PITCH slider
• Press the PITCH button (26) to activate the PITCH slider (28). The button lights up green.
• Set the desired control range of the PITCH slider (26) by pushing the PITCH (28) button. The setting is
signalled via the 3 LEDs of the PITCH (29) display.
• Modify playback speed by moving the PITCH slide control (26) up or down. Put the slide control in centre
position for original speed.
PITCH-BEND buttons
• Hold down the PITCH BEND +/- (27) buttons during playback to change the speed.
The PITCH BEND - button reduces speed.
The PITCH BEND + button increases speed.
• The longer the PITCH BEND button is held down, to bigger the corresponding playback speed change.
• When the button is released, the music is played back at original speed or at the speed specified by the
PITCH slide control (26).
