Operating instructions
Solar underwater spotlights
Item no. 807609
Intended use
The product is intended as a decorative light source for outdoor use e.g. in a garden pond.
The solar cell charges the three rechargeable NiMH batteries with sufficient sunlight. The
rechargeable batteries power the three included underwater spotlights at dark.
The underwater spotlights features plate holders which can be filled with small stones. This
allows you to easily place the underwater spotlights in a pond or in your garden.
The solar module with integrated solar cell can either be screw mounted, set up using a
ground spike or fastened to a pole or a beam with a special pole clamp.
The underwater LED spotlights light up automatically in the dark and deactivate when the
ambient light level is greater.
Choose a site for setting up the solar module with as little shade as possible so the rechar-
geable batteries can charge sufficiently to guarantee a lengthy light ON time in the dark..
It is imperative that you follow the safety instructions and all other information contained
in this user manual.

• Protect the product from extreme temperatures, strong vibrations or strong
mechanical stress.
• The three underwater spotlights are designed for use in or under water (e.g. in
a garden pond or artificial stream, etc.).
The solar module is designed for outdoor use but may not be operated in or
under water. Operation in or under water will destroy the solar module!
• Attention, LED light: Do not look directly into the LED light! Do not look into the
beam directly or with optical instruments!
• Cease operation of the product immediately if it is visibly damaged and have
it checked/repaired by a professional or dispose of it in an environmentally
friendly manner.
• Do not leave packaging material unattended, as children could use it as a toy
creating hazardous situations.
Notes on rechargeable batteries
• Keep rechargeable batteries out of the reach of children. Do not leave rechargeable bat
-
teries lying about. Children or pets may swallow batteries left lying about, posing a risk of
fatal injury! If a battery has been swallowed, seek medical advice immediately.
• Never disassemble, short-circuit or throw rechargeable batteries into fire, this poses a
risk of explosion.
• Heed correct polarity (plus/+ and minus/-) when inserting/replacing rechargeable batte
-
ries.
• Expired or used rechargeable batteries can leak chemical liquids that cause damage to
the device. Leaking or damaged rechargeable batteries may cause chemical burns if they
come into contact with your skin, wear suitable protective hand wear in such a case.
• Use only rechargeable batteries of the right size and recommended type
• Only ever insert rechargeable batteries into the solar module. Never use non-recharge
-
able batteries. Otherwise there is a risk of fire and explosion!
Only use three NiMH rechargeable batteries, size AA/Mignon.
Installation
a) Solar module
Choose a sport for set-up with as much sunlight as possible. The more sunlight
that shines on the solar cell in the solar module, the quicker and fuller the rechar-
geable battery will charge and the longer the light ON time in the dark will be.
The solar module should face south and ideally should be installed so that the
midday sun shines down on the solar cell in the solar module vertically.
If you set up the solar module beneath trees or bushes where only a small amount
of sunlight can reach the solar cell, the rechargeable batteries will not charge
sufficiently and the three LED underwater spotlights will light up at night only very
briefly if at all.
During the winter months or during extended periods of adverse weather, the
rechargeable batteries will also not charge sufficiently and light ON time in the
dark will decrease accordingly.
Do not place the solar module directly next to other sources of light such as cour
-
tyard lights, street lights, etc. Otherwise the underwater spotlights will not turn
on/off correctly (the LEDs are activated automatically when the charging current
from the solar cell drops below a certain value).
Before setting up the solar module, make sure the three LED spotlight cables
reach the solar module.
Wall installation
Fasten the solar module mounting foot to a stable surface using 2 screws and screw an-
chors if necessary. When drilling any holes or fastening the screws, make sure not to da-
mage and cables or wiring.
Depending on the surface, use suitable screws and screw anchors.
Then fasten the solar module to the mounting foot.
Installation using the pole clamp
First stick the L-shaped metal bracket through the
solar module mounting foot (heed proper orienta
-
tion) and pivot it outwards 90°. See illustration on
right.
Fit the plastic plate onto the metal bracket, then
screw on the wing nut.
To prevent injuries, the plastic cap finally should
be placed on the thread.
The clamp can be fastened to e.g. a pole or a beam, etc. Move the plastic plate and tighten
the wing nut.
Then fasten the solar module to the mounting foot.
Set-up using the ground spike
Screw the ground spike to the solar module and stick the ground spike with the solar module
into the ground e.g. in a flower a bed.
Do not use any tools to insert the ground spike (e.g. a hammer). Exerting force can
cause damage to the product and results in loss of warranty!
b) Underwater spotlights
The three underwater spotlights can be set up not only in
your garden but also in or under water, such as in a garden
pond or an artificial stream.
The plate holders can be filled with e.g. small stones to
stabilize the position of the underwater spotlights. See il
-
lustration on right.
Lay the cables between the underwater spotlights and the
solar module so that it cannot be tripped over.
Place the cable somewhere where they will not be driven
over or stepped on. Also shield the cables from sharp cor-
ners.
