HOW TO USE THE HEARING
INSTRUMENT

On/Off function

Your ReSound Alera hear-
ing instrument is equipped
with  an  on/off  switch  in-
tegrated  into  the  battery
door.

• When  the  battery  door

is  fully  closed,  the  in-
strument  is  turned  on
and  Program  1  will  be
activated.

• To turn the instrument off, open the battery door.

TIP: Whenever you are not using the instrument,
remember to turn it off to reduce battery con-
sumption.

Generally, people prefer to turn on the hearing instru-
ment after it is placed behind the ear and the dome
or earmold is inserted into the ear. If you would like
to turn on the instrument before placing it on your ear,
your hearing healthcare professional can activate the
SmartStart™ function.

SmartStart™

SmartStart™ allows you to insert the instrument into
the ear without annoying, squealing sounds. Starting
when the battery door is closed, it delays the activa-
tion of the hearing instrument for ten seconds. During
this 10-second period you will hear a series of single
beeps.

What you need to know

  Inserting/Replacing the Battery:

    1. Open the battery
    door (C)
   completely
    by using
    your fingertip.

    2. Remove protective sticker from
battery and wait 2 minutes before
        inserting the
        battery into the
        hearing aid to
allow full activation of the battery.

    3. Insert the new battery

with the positive

side (flat side) in

the  correct

position, as shown.

    4. Gently close the battery door. If it
doesn’t close easily, check to see
if the battery is upside down.
