Extinguish a fire with the Retmex
Due to Nomex' heat resistance and solid structure, the rescue sheet has special capabilities: it can extinguish fire. Attention! The rescue sheet is not
an official fire blanket and is therefore not an alternative. There are legal requirements for fire blankets with regard to dimensions and design.
Extinguishing a fire can be dangerous. If this is not done correctly, it can lead to (serious) injuries.
Extinguishing fire using this step-by-step instruction:
- Protect your hands. Wear fire resistant gloves or wrap the top of the Retmex around your hands to protect them.
- Keep the Retmex high and stay behind the Retmex.
- Place the Retmex over the fire. Do not throw, but lay it gently. Make sure there is no air left. Leave the Retmex in place for a while.
- Wrap the victim from top to bottom. This will prevent the flames from reaching the face. Do not cover the victim's head when extinguishing the fire.
- Rub from top to bottom until the fire suffocates.
Storing the Retmex
1. Open the rescue sheet and place
the section on the right-side inwards.
2. Turn the left part in.
3. Roll up the Retmex and place it
back in the yellow storage system.
Please note that all handles and straps are placed inwards when storing the Retmex.
