3.4.3
Operating the MM 500 control. on a chiller (e.g. the Lauda Microcool MC 1200)
Among other things, the MM 500 control offers the possibility of connecting a chiller. The chiller
is the cost-effective alternative for users who have moderate temperature requirements and
mainly want to stabilize the sample temperatures. The chiller allows flow temperatures down to -
10 °C depending on the cooling medium used. Particularly for samples and processes which
lead to excessive heating of the grinding jars, the chiller offers a reliable option for heat
dissipation. Thanks to the closed hydraulic circuit, the system can be operated more
ecologically than at the water tap.
If both thermal plates shall be cooled with the chiller, the connection, e.g. to the Lauda
Microcool MC 1200, is as follows:
Fig. 13:
Rear side of the device with the Lauda Microcool MC 1200 (using both thermal plates).
If only one thermal plate shall be cooled, the chiller can be connected either to the upper
connections (right thermal plate) or to the lower connections (left thermal plate).
