Container Setup
Reference Fig. 3 for cutout and hole locations in the top and bottom containers.
Position the top container shell (IPL Fig. 4, Items 10/10A) so the inside is visible. Place foam strip (IPL
Fig. 4, Item 60) flat along raised edge of top container shell to form a gasket seal when the container
is shut. DO NOT place the foam strip vertically along the inner rim of the shell as this will interfere
with the bottom container shell (IPL Fig. 4, Items 20/20A) when assembled and not form a solid seal.
Survival Equipment Pack
Layout the components in the vacuum bag (IPL Fig. 5, Item 240) as shown. (See Fig. 4A)
Measure 1in.-1.5in. from the edge and heat seal the open end of the bag being sure to leave a 1in. gap
in the end. (See Fig. 4C)
Insert a vacuum hose into the gap so hose is positioned in the folds of the bailer and evacuate the bag
completely. (See Fig. 4C)
TIP!
If any small holes are found in the vacuum bag, cover the holes with black gaffers tape
and continue evacuating the air from the bag.
Once the bag has been compressed, quickly remove the hose and seal the open gap.
Punch three (3) holes along the 1in.-1.5in. strip of plastic. (See Fig. 4C)
Secure one end of the 120in. tie line (IPL Fig. 5, Item 220) to the interior grasp line on left hand side
nearest the door. (See Fig. 4B)
Stowage of the Quoit
Store the heaving line and quoit underneath the internal ladder, up against the side of the tube.
First Aid Kit
Heat seal the opening of the first aid kit bag leaving a 1in. hole at the end. Insert a vacuum hose into
the opening and evacuate the bag. Quickly remove the hose and seal the open gap. Any additional
plastic remaining past the opening of the bag can be cut away.
