3.2.3 PREPARATION OF THE LIFERAFT
a) Lay the deflated pneumatic part on the working table.
b) Screw on the valve of the buoyancy tube, the device for pressure check (part.1). Open the obturator
screwing part 2.
c) Connect the manometer to the edge of the pressure check device.
WARNING: FOR OFFSHORE OCEAN (XTREME) LIFERAFTS, VERIFY THAT THE PLUG OF
THE CANOPY INFLATION VALVE IS CORRECTLY TIGHTENED.
3.2.4 WORKING PRESSURE TEST
WARNING: BEFORE STARTING THE INFLATION, MAKE SURE THAT THE MANOMETER IS
SETTED TO “0”.
a) Connect the manometer with the pressure check device.
b) Inflate buoyancy tube from the inflation hoses up to the starting of the overpressure valve.
c) Check, by means of the manometer, the value on which the overpressure valve start to work. That value
must be comprehended between 0,22 e 0,35 bar.
NOTE: for different pressure values, replace the overpressure valve and repeat the test.
c) After pressure has become stabilized in the buoyancy tubes (30 min), restore working pressure.
d) After 60 minutes verify that the pressure is not lower than 0.18bar.
NOTE: for pressure values lower than what indicated, check the cause of the loss and send liferaft
to repairing. After repaired, repeat the test.
e) Verify tightness of the inflation valves, overpressure valves and non-return valves on the lower buoyancy
tube, upper buoyancy tube and (for Offshore Ocean models) canopy arch, by means of soaped water.
In case of air loss (indicated by foam and bubbles) proceed to eliminate the inconvenience (tighten the valve,
replace the gasket, replace the valve body or the ferrule, repair the valve hole on the buoyancy tub, etc.)
To tighten the inflation valve, overpressure valve, non-return valve, dry the soaped water and then proceed as
indicated below:
