COASTAL CRUISER
OFFSHORE OCEAN
SERVICE MANUAL
Inflation valve
Tighten the valve by means of dynamometric spanner and specific tool, at a coupling torque of 25 Nm.
WARNING: THE VALVE BODY AND THE GASKET MUST BE WELL ALIGNED AND CENTRED
TO THE HOLE ON THE BUOYANCY TUBE. IF NOT SO, LIGHTLY UNSCREW THE VALVE
BODY AND REPOSITION THE ENSEMBLE CORRECTLY.
Overpressure valve
Tighten the valve by means of dynamometric spanner and specific tool, at a coupling torque of:
25 Nm for valves “Type SOLAS”
20 Nm for valves “Type Standard”
WARNING: THE VALVE BODY, THE FERRULE AND THE GASKET MUST BE WELL ALIGNED
AND CENTRED TO THE HOLE ON THE BUOYANCY TUBE. IF NOT SO, LIGHTLY UNSCREW
THE FERRULE AND REPOSITION THE ENSEMBLE CORRECTLY.
Non-return valve
Position the flat spanner (17mm) on the external side of the valve body so to block it.
With the other hand, screw the ferrule with a dynamometric spanner at a coupling torque of 35 Nm.
3.2.5 OVERPRESSURE STRENGTH TEST ON PNEUMATIC STRUCTURE
a) Close the plugs of the overpressure valve on lower and upper buoyancy tubes (verify that the rubber gasket
will be in its side).
b) Connect manometer to the inflation valve for each buoyancy tube.
c) Inflate buoyancy tube up to a pressure of 0,25 bar.
d) After 1/2 hour from the test start, open the overpressure valves up to reach the exercise pressure.
e) After 6 hours check and sign the pressure value, It doesn’t have to be less than 0,15 bar.
NOTE: for pressure values lower than what indicated, check the cause of the loss and send liferaft
to repairing. After repaired, repeat the test.
3.2.6 CHECK OF THE CLOSURE PRESSURE FOR OVERPRESSURE VALVES
a) Open the plugs of the overpressure valves of both the lower and upper buoyancy tubes and let the excess of
air exit
b) After 1 hour check and sign the value of the final pressure
This value must be not less than:
0,12 bar for liferafts with overpressure valves type “Standard”;
0,18 bar for liferafts with overpressure valves type “Solas”.
NOTE: for pressure values lower than what indicated, replace the defeated overpressure valve, than
repeat all the test (open and closure of the overpressure valve and overpressure strength).
3.2.7 INFLATABLE FLOOR TEST (OFFSHORE OCEAN - XTREME)
Inflate the floor with compressed air and check if, after 1 hour, it doesn’t show evident loss of air.
WARNING: AS THE INFLATABLE FLOOR IS NOT PROVIDED BY PRESSURE RELIEF VALVES
AND IT IS SUITED TO BE INFLATED WITH HAND PUMP, TAKE CARE TO INFLATE SOFTLY.
In case of air loss, reach the damage with soapy water, then provide to repair it.
