A Mother Transmitter is a small, yellow device placed on the wrist of a new mother.
When it is activated, it sends a signal that is received by Exit Alarm Receivers and Alarming
Band Receivers. If a mother is handed a child wearing a transmitter that does not match her
transmitter, the Red LED on the Mother Transmitter flashes and an alarm sounds to signify a
mismatch.
Test all transmitters prior to use to verify proper operation.
To fasten a Mother Transmitter
1
Cut off 6-7" of alarming band material.
2
Open the clamps of the Mother Transmitter by gently pulling them outward,
one clamp at a time, from the top of the Transmitter.
3
Insert the alarming band material through the slot on one side of the Mother
Transmitter, from bottom to top, with the printed fabric side facing out. Guide
the alarming band material through the slot at the top of the clamp.
4
Snap the clamp into place.

Cleaning and Caring for a Mother Transmitter
2
Pre-clean the Mother Transmitter using an approved cleaner.
Use the provided brush to clean the hard-to-reach areas.
Brushes should be sanitized after each use according to the manufacturer’s
instructions and your facility’s infection control procedures.
3
Sanitize the Mother Transmitter by spraying it with an
approved
cleaner.
Using an approved cleaner does not confirm the suitability of the cleaner to
meet your infection control standard; it only indicates that the Mother
Transmitter will not be harmed by the cleaner.
Allow the cleaner to remain on the Mother Transmitter for the amount of time
specified by the manufacturer. When using surface disinfectants and
decontaminant cleaners, always follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
In order to avoid nuisance alarms, cleaning procedures should be
performed at least 100 feet from any Alarming Band Zone.
Use of non-approved cleaners on Mother Transmitters may cause
permanent damage to the Transmitter and the alarming band piercing
contacts and will void any and all warranties.
This chapter provides detailed information about cleaning and caring for a Mother
Transmitter.
