4.7. FRONT AND REAR (Anti-Tip) CASTORS
The following section contains important information regarding the replacement of the castor
wheels and bearings, either at the front or back of the
RGK
wheelchair.
4.7.1. REPLACING CASTOR WHEELS
Follow the steps below to replace the castor wheels;
STEP 1: Using two 4mm Allen keys, remove 1 of the
2 screws that locate the castor axle.
STEP 2: Pull out the axle and remove the castor
wheel and spacers from the mounting fork.
STEP 3: Install the NEW castor wheel, axle and
spacers to the mounting fork, by reversing STEPS 1
& 2.
WARNING!
When replacing the castor wheels,
ensure the same size is fitted as the original factory
fitted castors. Failure to use the correct size could
result in reduced performance or even personal
injury or property damage.
4.7.2. REPLACING BEARINGS IN FRAME
Follow the steps below to replace the bearings located in the frame;
STEP 1: Remove wing, castor pot cap or nut cap
STEP 2: Remove nut on top of castor pot, using a 19mm socket spanner.
STEP 3: Remove castor assembly downwards through the castor housing, noting the
washer sequence.
STEP 4: Carefully, knock out the bearings using a punch and a hammer.
STEP 5: Insert NEW bearings using a bearing puller/pusher.
WARNING!
Bearings must be fitted using the correct tools. Failure to use the correct
tool may result in reduced performance, personal injury or property damage.
4.8. FOOTREST
The following section contains important information regarding the replacement and
adjustment of the footrest.
4.8.1. ADJUSTING FOOTREST HEIGHT
Follow the steps below to adjust the footrest
height;
STEP 1: Using a 5mm Allen key, release the
4 screws in the clamps which secure the
footrest to the frame,
see image 18
.
STEP 2: Adjust footrest to desired position.
STEP 3: Tighten clamp screws to secure.
WARNING!
To prevent damage and wear of
parts, DO NOT over tighten the screws in
the footrest clamps.

Release
