— Use handholds and steps during dismount.

Perform Maintenance Safely
Maintain Your Equipment
Be sure to maintain the equipment according to
manufacturer’s instructions. Regularly check the
operation of the protective and safety devices.
Do not
perform any work on a tractor or mower unless
you are authorized and qualifi ed to do so.
If you have been authorized to do maintenance,
read
the operator’s and service manuals.
Study the
instructions; check the lubrication charts; examine all
the instruction messages on the machine. Maintenance
can be hazardous unless performed properly. Be sure
you have the necessary skill, information, correct tools
and equipment to do the job.

Do not modify equipment or add
components not approved by the manufacturer.
Use
parts, lubricants and service techniques recommended
by the manufacturer.
Mower Parts And Your Safety
Mower manufacturers use specifi c fasteners and
specially designed parts to meet mowing operations
requirements. Critical parts (self-locking blade bolts,
blades, pins, shields and other special items) have
specifi c strength, design and fi t requirements for the
make and model mower you are using.
Avoid possible death or serious injury from unapproved
parts or modifi cations:
— Do not substitute common hardware for original
manufacturer’s blade bolts or other special part items.
— Do not substitute for blades, pins, shields or other
critical parts.
— Do not use higher strength bolts to replace original
manufacturer’s shear bolts.
