8. Tighten thoroughly the dipstick.
Attention! To prevent damage to the seal and the thread of the cylinder head, the screw must not be
over-tightened.
b) When to change the oil?
Carry out the first oil change after 50 hours of use; then drain every 100 hours or once a year.
c) Changing the oil
1. The ram must be in the original position.
Make sure all moving parts have stopped and that the log
splitter is unplugged.
2. Place a 4 litres container under the log splitter.
3. Unscrew the cap (15) of the oil tank. Do not forget the
seal during removal.
4. Then tilt the machine to drain the oil from the tank.
If necessary, ask a second person to come and help you hold
the log splitter
5. Then tilt the machine so that the filling opening is
pointing upwards.
6. Pour hydraulic oil (2.4 litters) using a clean funnel.
7. Clean the dipstick and the seal.
- Check the oil level by inserting the dipstick in the tank,
while maintaining the vertical splitter.
- Remove the dipstick and check the oil level is between the
two points (“a” and “b”).
Dipstick
8. Check the gasket. Replace if damaged.
9. Tighten thoroughly the dipstick.
Attention! To prevent damage to the seal and the thread of the cylinder head, the screw must not be
over-tightened.
10. Regularly check the oil level; and refill when necessary.
Remarks:
1- Check oil level regularly with dipstick. Low oil levels can damage the oil pump.
2- The oil should be completely changed once a year.
3- Before oil change, make sure moving parts are stopped and the log splitter is unplugged.
4- Make sure that no dirt or debris finds its way into the oil tank.
5- Following an oil change, activate the log splitter a few times without load (without splitting wood).
6- Collect used oil and dispose of responsibly in accordance with local environmental legislation.
It is prohibited to dump waste oil into the environment or to mix it with other waste.
- Recommended oil
Following hydraulic oils or equivalent are recommend for the log splitter's hydraulic system:
SHELL Tellus 22 ; MOBIL DTE 11 ; ARAL Vitam GF 22 ; BP Energol HLP-HM 22
Do not use other types of oil!
The use of any other type of oil will adversely affect the operation of
the hydraulic cylinder.
- Hydraulic system
The hydraulic system is a closed system with oil tank, oil pump and control valve.
Do not alter or tamper with the factory installed system.
Check the oil level regularly. Too low oil level will likely damage the oil pump.
Check the hydraulic and screw connections regularly for leaks, tighten them if necessary.
