5.4- Spraying tips
For best results thoroughly clean the surface being painted, this should be free from dust and grease.
It is also advisable to protect the painted area from airborne dust particles.
To obtain the best results use the Spray Gun at 20-30cm away from the surface being sprayed.
Several light coats rather than one thick coat will help prevent the paint running.
Allow each coat to dry slightly before re-applying.
Use long sweeping arm movements rather than short wrist movements to ensure the distance
between the work piece and the Spray Gun is kept constant.
The most suitable method of surface spraying is with a cross-pattern, starting with horizontal passes
and finishing with light vertical passes.
It may be necessary to mask the surrounding area of the work piece. This can be done using tape and
newspaper.
For window panes a damp piece of newspaper stuck to the pane will protect the glass for a short
period.
VI. MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE
Before any intervention on product, ensure that product is disconnected from its
power source.
CAUTION
! After each use, carry out the following tasks
- Empty any unused paint from the paint container. Never leave paint to dry in the unit (cup, suction
pipe, needle, nozzle), as dried paint will prevent the spray gun from functioning properly. Failure to
observe this important cautionary measure will void the guarantee.
- Clean the container thoroughly with the thinner you have used.
- Put a little thinner into the container and spray using the spray gun until only clean thinner exits the
spray gun.
- Clean the suction pipe and the filter with thinner.
- Clean the nozzle and remove all remaining dirt or paint.
- Keep the ventilation slots of the device clean in order to prevent the motor from overheating.
The ventilation slots must be free from dust and dirt. If the dirt cannot be removed, use a soft cloth
dipped in soapy water. Never use solvents such as benzene, alcohol, ammoniac etc.
These solvents may attack the plastic elements
6.1- Maintenance
a) Clean plastic parts with a soft clean cloth, preferably after each use
Do not use aggressive cleansers (solvents or abrasive cleansers), or an abrasive sponge or sharp
objects.
Do not put or immerse product in water or any other liquid.
b) When cleaning the Spray Gun, only use solvents recommended by the paint/varnish manufacturer.
Always read the precautions laid down by the paint/varnish manufacturer.
The Spray Gun and accessories must be cleaned after every use. Failure to clean the Spray Gun will
cause it to fail.
c) Do not use liquids containing abrasive substances such as red lead oxide, glazes, caustic and
alkaline substances. The use of these liquids can lead to excessive wear or corrosion to the pump
assembly.
6.2- Cleaning the spray gun
It is very important to clean your Spray Gun thoroughly after use; failure to do so may render the
Spray Gun useless and void the guarantee.
