Failover Settings
:
•
Primary Server IP Address
– Enter the IP address of the primary server.
When entered, the following additional fields appear…
•
Primary Server’s Protocol
(required) – Select the primary server’s protocol
method, HTTPS or HTTP.
•
Synchronization File Pickup Location
(required) – Enter either the UNC path
of the shared folder on your primary server or the local folder of your secondary
server, which will be used to store the drop file. If you’re using a shared folder
on the primary server, the Failover Service on the secondary server must be
run on a specific user account that has access rights to the job file folder on the
primary server. For details, please
see Appendix D: Change Failover Service
Property
in this guide.
Note
: The primary server can create the drop file based upon time (at “Drop File Creation
Interval”) or on-demand (via “Synchronize Now” button).
•
Synchronization Update Interval
(required) – This is the interval (in minutes,
seconds, hours, days or weeks) at which the secondary server will update itself
with the primary server’s system configuration and Plug -in data.
Changes to
this setting requires Failover Service restart
.
Important
: For system synchronization to occur automatically, the GlobalScan
Failover Service Property must be configured, as outlined in
Appendix D:
Change Failover/Data Service Property
.
•
Primary Server Status Refresh Rate
(required) – This is the interval (in
seconds) at which the secondary server checks the status of the primary
server, i.e., whether the server is up, down or unknown.
Changes to this
setting requires Failover Service restart
.
MFD Operation
During Failover, the MFD has detected that the primary server is off line/down, thus
will log out of the session (popup message is displayed on touch screen) and then
switch over to the secondary server, but the user will need to log back in to
GlobalScan.
Note
: The secondary server will not allow new (unregistered) MFDs to participate in GlobalScan. The
unregistered MFDs can only join GlobalScan when the primary server is back on line (or the secondary
server is promoted to primary server status). For example, if you have five registered MFDs with the
primary server and one or more new machines are added, the secondary server will only support
Failover on the five registered machines.
