Noise Level Check and Flow Cell Cleaning
When a sample exceeds the specifi ed maximum particle number concentration, or a sam-
ple is mixed with air bubbles, or contamination has occurred, or moisture condensation
has formed on the fl ow cell or the detection system, the letters / fi gures on the “KL-04
Controller” window turn to orange. If this occurs during measurement, the “Bad Sensing
Condition” warning message appears after completion of the measurement. Check the
noise level and clean the fl ow cell area in the following way.
Noise Level Check
1. Supply pure water to the unit to replace the sample liquid. If the sample liquid
undergoes a chemical reaction with water, fi rst replace it with a suitable liquid
which does not cause a reaction, then replace that liquid with pure water.
2. Run pure water over the unit to clean it.
3. An operator with access privileges to “Calibration” must log in and then display
the “KL-04 - Start New Window” window.
Note
See page 34 for the login method and see page 36 for the “KL-04
- Start New Window” window display method.
4. Click the “Check Noise Level” button from the “Usual Operations” menu on the
“KL-04 - Start New Window” window.
The “KL-04 - Check Noise Level” window appears.
5. Click the “Start” button.
Note
To check the noise level, clean the fl ow system thoroughly with
purifi ed water, then fi ll it completely with purifi ed water and carry
out the check.
The “KL-04 Controller - Measurement in Progress” window appears.
Upon completion of the check, the Noise Level will be displayed.
6. Record the noise level, and then press the “Quit” button.
