Calibrating with a 5-Gas Cylinder
The calibration instructions below show a 5 channel instrument which has the four
standard channels, LEL/oxygen/H
2
S/CO, and an ESM-01 channel for sulfur dioxide
(SO
2
).
1. See “Calibration Supplies and Equipment” on page 55 for a description of the
necessary calibration supplies. See Table 20 on page 183 for available cylinders.
Make sure your calibration cylinder is appropriate for the ESM-01 detection range.
WARNING:
RKI Instruments, Inc. recommends that you dedicate a regulator
for use with chlorine (Cl
2
) gas and that you do not use that
dedicated regulator for any other gases, particularly hydrogen
sulfide (H
2
S).
2. Find a fresh-air environment. This is an environment free of toxic or combustible
gases and of normal oxygen content (20.9%).
3. While in Measuring Mode, press and hold the RANGE
▼
SHIFT button, then press
the DISPLAY ADJUST NO button and release both buttons.
4. If the unit prompts you for the password, enter it by using the AIR
▲
YES and
RANGE
▼
SHIFT buttons to select each password number and then pressing and
releasing POWER ENTER RESET to enter the number and move on to the next one.
5. The Calibration Mode Screen displays with the cursor next to
AUTO
CALIBRATION
.
6. Move the cursor to the
PERFORM AIR ADJUST
menu item by using the RANGE
▼
SHIFT button.
7. Press and release the POWER ENTER RESET button. The following screen appears.
