No IR connection
between GX-6000
and SDM-6000
• SDM-6000 is not turned
on.
• The GX-6000 is not
correctly inserted into the
instrument cradle.
• The IR window is dirty.
1. Turn on the SDM-6000. If it does
not turn on, check that the AC
adapter is plugged into an AC
socket and to the jack on the left
side of the SDM-6000.
2. Check to make sure the GX-6000
is inserted properly.
3. Clean the IR window on the
SDM-6000 and GX-6000.
4. If the difficulties continue, contact
RKI Instruments, Inc. for further
instruction.
Touch screen isn’t
functioning cor

rectly for stand

alone operation
• The SDM-6000 is
connected to a computer
and the PC Controller
Program is running.
1. Disconnect the USB cable from
the left side of the SDM-6000 if it
is connected. See the SDM-6000
PC Controlled Configuration
Operator’s Manual for
instructions to use the SDM-6000
in PC Controlled configuration.
The Li-ion battery
pack in the
GX-6000 is not
charging
• The GX-6000 has an
alkaline battery pack
installed.
• The Li-ion battery pack is
faulty.
• The GX-6000 is not fully
inserted in the instrument
cradle.
• The charger is
malfunctioning.
1. Check to make sure your GX-
6000 doesn’t have an alkaline
battery pack installed.
2. Replace the Li-ion battery pack
and attempt to charge it.
3. Be sure that the GX-6000 is fully
inserted in the instrument cradle.
4. If the difficulties continue, contact
RKI Instruments, Inc. for further
instruction.
“CAP ERROR” is
displayed on the
SDM-6000’s
screen
• The red gas in/gas out
cover is not pushed down
and engaged with the
GX-6000.
1. Check to make sure the red gas
in/gas out cover is pushed down
and engaged with the GX-6000.

• The gas inlets are not set
appropriately for the
installed GX-6000.
1. Check to make sure that all
gases in the GX-6000 have a
corresponding inlet setting in the
Config Menu’s Inlet Screen.
2. Be sure that all appropriate inlets
are selected as Active in the
Config Menu’s Inlet Screen.

card
• The SD card is not fully
engaged in the SD card
slot
• The SD card is not
installed in the SD card

• The SD card is defective
1. Check to make sure that the SD
card is installed properly in the
SD Card slot.
2. Replace the SD card.
