DEMONSTRATOR REGISTRATION POLICY
The courts have held that a demonstrator is not a new boat. Robalo defi nes a demo boat as a boat with more than 20 hours on the (one of the) engines.
A boat used for demonstration purposes cannot be sold as a new boat. The court clearly explains that, when anything is sold as new, the product must
not have been used previously for any purpose, including demonstrations. This ruling applies to outboards, sterndrives, snowmobiles, cars, accessories
and parts. Dealers selling products should be aware of this legal pitfall and the possible consequences.
Warranty Registration Cards must be fi lled out immediately for demonstration boats in the same manner that they are for sold boats. This includes
personal use by dealers or dealership staff. Products used as demonstrators will be registered to the dealer in the same manner as products sold to
customers. The warranty period on any model used as a demonstrator will commence on the date that the unit was placed in such service.
Original Retail Purchasers of Demo boats are NOT required to pay a Warranty Transfer Fee, but are required to complete an Ownership Transfer Form
within 30 days of purchasing the boat. They will receive the balance of the Five-Year Transferable Limited Structural Hull Warranty and the balance of
the One-Year Transferable Limited Warranty only. Robalo defi nes the start date of these warranties as the date the boat was originally place into Demo
service.
A copy of the Ownership Transfer Record is in this Owner’s Manual.
