contain the dust for later removal.

sanding.

polishing of wood and metals.

power sanding, contain chemicals known to 

cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive 

harm. Some examples of these chemicals are:

•  Lead from lead-based paints.
•  Crystalline silica from bricks and cement and 

other masonry products.

•  Arsenic and chromium from chemically treated 

lumber.

Your risk from these exposures varies, depending 
upon how often you do this type of work.   
To reduce your exposure to these chemicals: 
•  Work in a well-ventilated area.
•    Work with approved safety equipment, such as 

those dust masks that are specially designed to 
filter microscopic particles.

1. fITTIng THe SandIng PaPeR (See fig. a)

Fit the paper over the pad so that it covers the entire 
area. Make sure the sanding paper is even with the 
edges and that the dust collection holes in the pad 
and sanding paper is aligned and the sanding paper
