9.5.2.
Description
If the pugmill will not going to be used for some time, the following procedure is recommended:

Turn off the machine.

Unplug the power plug.

Place a damp cloth in the mixing barrel.
4
Seal the mixing barrel with a plastic film and attach it with masking tape.

Seal the outlet pipe with a plastic film and attach it with masking tape.

The moisture from the cloth re-dissolves any dried material.
7
Leave the pugmill for a few hours.
8
Indicate that work is being carried out on the machine either with warning signs or barriers. The
machine must not be put into operation during this time.

Cleaning
10.1.
General safety information
DANGER
Risk of personal injury and property damage!
For safety reasons, the power plug must be pulled out of the socket before any work is
carried out on the machine!
NOTE
The machine must not be cleaned by spraying it with water; this includes water jets, hoses
or high-pressure cleaners.

By using compressed air for cleaning purposes, dirt particles can penetrate switches,
contacts and other sensitive components. Possible consequences are damage to the

10.2.
Cleaning the machine

Clean the pugmill after each use.
•
Make sure that the machine is perfectly clean after each use, especially for clay bodies with different colours
or firing properties.

Do not spray the machine with water.
•
Do not use cleaning agents, only clear water.
•
Do not use compressed air.
•
All components that come into contact with the clay are made of stainless steel, aluminium or plastic. These
components are easy to clean.
•
The mixing barrel can be easily dismantled for cleaning (see next section).
