If, for example, a rectangle is to be drawn with single dot-dash lines, specification of the positive
parameter (p = 3 ) causes the end positions of the lines to vary depending on the line lengths to
be drawn, as in Example 1 below Therefore, specification of the negative parameter (p = - 3 )
will properly adjust the start and end points of the drawing according to the line lengths, as in Ex
ample 2 below. In such cases the pitch may differ slightly, but when plotting circles or hatching
with broken or single dot-dash lines, the uniformity o f the start and end points produces a more
attractive result.
