5. Trouble
For preventing damages make sure to avoid operating situations like exemplarily shown in Fig. 12 through

CAUTION
CAUTION
After the drive unit has been in storage for a long period of time, the overpressure valve must be actuated fi rst by pressing the reset button (13) before putting back
into operation. If it is stuck or stiff, it may not be pressed. The drive unit must be handed over to an authorized ROLLER customer service workshop for inspection.
5.1. Fault: Drive unit does not work.
Cause:
Remedy:
● Worn carbon brushes (ROLLER’S Uni-Press SE, ROLLER’S Uni-Press,
ROLLER’S Uni-Press ACC, ROLLER’S Uni-Press XL ACC).
● Have the carbon brushes changed by qualifi ed personnel or an authorised
ROLLER customer service workshop.
● Mains lead defective (ROLLER’S Uni-Press SE, ROLLER’S Uni-Press,
ROLLER’S Uni-Press ACC, ROLLER’S Uni-Press XL ACC).
● Have the mains lead replaced by qualifi ed personnel or an authorised ROLLER
customer service workshop.
● Battery depleted or defective (ROLLER’S cordless drive units).
● Charge the battery with the rapid charger or change the battery.
● Drive unit defective.
● Have the drive unit checked/repaired by an authorised ROLLER customer
service workshop.
5.2. Fault: Radial press does not fi nish the pressing, pressing tongs, Mini pressing tongs, pressing ring, adapter tongs, pressing segment do not close fully.
Cause:
Remedy:
● Drive unit overheated (ROLLER’S Uni-Press SE, ROLLER’S Uni-Press,
ROLLER’S Uni-Press ACC, ROLLER’S Uni-Press XL ACC).
● Let the drive unit cool down for about 10 minutes.
● Worn carbon brushes (ROLLER’S Uni-Press SE, ROLLER’S Uni-Press,
ROLLER’S Uni-Press ACC, ROLLER’S Uni-Press XL ACC).
● Have the carbon brushes changed by qualifi ed personnel or an authorised
ROLLER customer service workshop.
● Slip clutch defective (ROLLER’S Uni-Press SE).
● Have the slipping clutch checked/repaired by an authorised ROLLER customer
service workshop.
● Battery depleted or defective (ROLLER’S cordless drive units).
● Charge the battery with the rapid charger or change the battery.
● Drive unit defective.
● Have the drive unit checked/repaired by an authorised ROLLER’S customer
service workshop.
● Wrong pressing tongs, Mini pressing tongs, pressing ring (pressing contour,
size) or adapter tongs, adapter tongs Mini inserted.
● Check the labelling on the pressing tongs, Mini pressing tongs, pressing ring or
adapter tongs, adapter tongs Mini and change if necessary.
● Pressing tongs, Mini pressing tongs, pressing ring or adapter tongs, adapter
tongs Mini stiff or defective.
● Do not use the pressing tongs, Mini pressing tongs, pressing ring or adapter
tongs, adapter tongs Mini any further! Clean and lightly grease the pressing
tongs, Mini pressing tongs, adapter tongs, adapter tongs Mini with machine oil
or replace them with new ones.
● The pressure indicator LED (28) lights red (ROLLER’S Multi-Press 22 V
ACC), see 3.6.
● Have the drive unit checked/repaired by an authorised ROLLER’S customer
service workshop. Re-press the press fi tting or replace it by a new one.
Observe the installation instructions of the press fi tting system.
5.3. Fault: ROLLER’S Uni-Press SE switches of repeatedly at the end of the pressing.
Cause:
Remedy:
● Defective drive unit.
● Have the drive unit checked/repaired by an authorised ROLLER customer
service workshop.
5.4. Fault: A prominent burr is produced on the press fi tting when closing the pressing tongs, Mini pressing tongs, pressing ring or pressing segments.
Cause:
Remedy:
● Damaged or worn pressing tongs, Mini pressing tongs, pressing ring,
pressing segments or pressing contour.
● Replace the pressing tongs, Mini pressing tongs, pressing ring with new ones.
● Wrong pressing tongs, Mini pressing tongs, pressing ring (pressing contour,
size) or adapter tongs, adapter tongs Mini inserted.
● Check the labelling on the pressing tongs, Mini pressing tongs, pressing ring or
adapter tongs, adapter tongs Mini and change if necessary.
● Unsuitable matching of press fi tting, pipe and support sleeve.
● Check the compatibility of the press fi tting, pipe and support sleeve. Observe
the installation and assembly instructions of the manufacturer/supplier of the
press fi tting system to be pressed and contact him if necessary.
5.5. Fault: Pressing jaws close without load on the pressing tongs, Mini pressing tongs offset at "A" and "B" (Fig. 1).
Cause:
Remedy:
● Pressing tongs, Mini pressing tongs fell to the fl oor, compression spring
bent.
● Send the pressing tongs, Mini pressing tongs to an authorised ROLLER
customer service workshop for inspection.
5.6. Fault: The pipe is crushed between the press fi tting and the fi tting joint in axial pressing.
Cause:
Remedy:
● Expansion too long.
● Check whether the right expanding head was used. Pipe expanded several
times, observe the installation and assembly instructions of the manufacturer/
supplier of the press fi tting system to be pressed.
● Pipe pushed too wide onto the support sleeve of the press fi tting.
● Check whether the right expanding head was used. Pipe expanded several
times, observe the installation and assembly instructions of the manufacturer/
supplier of the press fi tting system to be pressed.
● Wrong expanding head (press fi tting system, size) inserted.
● Change expanding head.
● Unsuitable matching of press fi tting, pipe and support sleeve.
● Check the compatibility of the press fi tting, pipe and support sleeve and contact
the manufacturer/supplier of the press fi tting system to be pressed if necessary.
5.7. Fault: A prominent gap is left between the press fi tting and the fi tting joint after closing the pressing heads in axial pressing.
Cause:
Remedy:
● Pipe crushed between the compression sleeve and the fi tting collar, see
5.6.
● Check whether the right expanding head was used. Pipe expanded several
times, observe the installation and assembly instructions of the manufacturer/
supplier of the press fi tting system to be pressed.
● Wrong compression head (compression sleeve system, size) used.
● Change pressing head.
● Battery depleted or defective (ROLLER’S cordless drive units).
● Charge the battery with the rapid charger or change the battery.
● Drive unit defective.
● Have the drive unit checked/repaired by an authorised ROLLER customer
service workshop.
