1.8. Vibrations
Weighted effective value of the acceleration
1.2 m/s² K = 1.5 m/s²
The indicated weighted effective value of acceleration has been measured
against standard test procedures and can be used by way of comparison with
another device. The indicated weighted effective value of acceleration can also
be used as a preliminary evaluation of the exposure.
CAUTION
The indicated weighted effective value of acceleration can differ during opera-
tion from the indicated value, dependent on the manner in which the device is
used. Dependent upon the actual conditions of use (periodic duty) it may be
necessary to establish safety precautions for the protection of the operator.
2. Commissioning
2.1. Electrical Connection
WARNING
Note the mains voltage!
Before connecting the drive unit or the rapid charger,
check whether voltage on the rating plate matches the mains voltage. At work
sites, in damp surroundings, in the open or in the case of comparable types of
use, only operate the equipment off the mains using a 30 mA fault current
protected switch (FI breaker).
Rechargeable batteries
The rechargeable battery supplied with ROLLER’S drive units and spare
rechargeable batteries are not charged. Charge the battery before use. Only
use a ROLLER’S rapid charger for charging. The rechargeable batteries only
reach their full capacity after being charged several times. Li-ion batteries should
be recharged regularly in order to avoid their total discharge. The rechargeable
battery will be damaged by exhaustive discharge. Non-rechargeable batteries
may not be charged.
NOTICE
Always hold the rechargeable battery upright when inserting it in the drive unit
or the rapid charger. If inserted at an angle it can cause damage to the contacts
and result in a short circuit which damages the battery.
Rapid charger Li-ion/NiCd (Art. No. 571560)
The left control lamp lights up and remains green when the mains plug is
plugged in. If a battery is inserted in the rapid charger, the green control lamp
flashes to indicate that the battery is charging. The green light stops flashing
and remains on to signal that the battery is fully charged. If the red control lamp
flashes, the battery is defective. If the red control lamp comes on and remains
on, this indicates that the temperature of the rapid charger is outside the permis-
sible range of +5°C to +40°C.
NOTICE
The rapid chargers are not suitable for outdoor use.
2.2. Installation of the Machine
Place the electric pipe cutting machine on a workbench or similar or unscrew
the pipe arm (2) and clamp the base frame (1) in a vice or bolt the base frame
to the workbench with bolts through holes (3). Where applicable, longer pipes
must be supported on both sides with ROLLER’S Assistent (Art. No. 120000).
2.3. Installing (changing) the cutting wheel (4)
Pull out the mains plug or remove the battery! Select a suitable cutting wheel:
●
ROLLER’S cutting wheel Cu-INOX
for stainless steel pipes, steel pipes
and copper pipes of the pressfitting systems.
●
ROLLER’S cutting wheel V
for multi-layered composite pipes of the press-
fitting systems.
Remove hexagonal nut (5) with size SW 8 ring spanner. Insert (change) cutting
wheel (4). Make sure that the carrier pins of the drive shaft grip into the holes
of the cutting wheel. Replace the hexagonal nut (5).
NOTICE
If an unsuitable cutting wheel is used, the wheel will be damaged or the pipe
will not be cut. Only use original ROLLER’S cutting wheels!
3. Operation
WARNING
Danger of injury!
Keep hair, clothing and gloves away from the pipe rest (6) when a pipe is rotating
in the rollers. Loose clothing, jewellery or long hair could get caught between
the rotating pipe and the rollers.
3.1. Work Procedure
Mark the cut on the pipe. Pull the handle (7) far enough up so that the pipe to
be cut can be inserted into the pipe rest (6).
NOTICE
Support longer pipes (see 3.2). Press the touch switch (8) and press the handle
(7) against the pipe rest and cut the pipe.
WARNING
Danger of injury!
The cut pipe sectors can fall to the floor immediately after being cut!
3.2. Supporting the Material
Where applicable, longer pipes must be supported on both sides with ROLLER’S
Assistent (Art. No. 120000).
4. Maintenance
WARNING
Before any repair work, pull the mains plug or remove the battery!
This
work may only be performed by qualified personnel.
4.1. Maintenance
Keep the rollers of the pipe rest clean. The ROLLER’S SmartCut, ROLLER’S
Akku-SmartCut gear run with a life-long grease filling and does not need lubri-
cation.
4.2. Inspection/Service
The motor ROLLER’S SmartCut has carbon brushes which are subject to wear.
The electric pipe cutting machine must therefore be inspected by an authorised
ROLLER’S service workshop from time to time. The carbon brushes cannot
be replaced so that the motor has to be changed when necessary. See also 5.
Behaviour in the Event of Faults.
Grease the drive shaft of the cutting wheel lightly from time to time.
5. Behaviour in the Event of Faults
5.1. Fault:
Electric pipe cutter, cordless electric pipe cutter stops during operation.
Cause:
● Feed pressure too high.
● Blunt cutting wheel.
5.2. Fault:
Pipe stops during cutting.
Cause:
● Pipe not round or not deburred on the outside.
● Idle rollers of the pipe rest soiled.
5.3. Fault:
Pipe is not cut.
Cause:
● Unsuitable cutting wheel.
● Pipe not round or not deburred on the outside.
● Cutting wheel damaged.
