instructions of the vacuum pump used. Drill with low thrust pressure. The
vacuum pump should be left switched on during drilling to prevent the drill stand
accidentally coming loose.
3.3.5 Securing with a quick-action upright
The ROLLER’S Bohrständer T also offers the possibility of securing the drill upright
between the fl oor and ceiling, or between two walls. This is done, for example,
by placing a conventional quick-action upright or a 1¼” steel pipe between the
grip head (29) of the drill upright and the ceiling/wall, and tightening it by holding
a tool such as a screw driver in the transverse hole. Tighten the locknut (30).
Note that the quick-action upright or steel pipe must be aligned with the boring
trestle, and that the threaded spindle (33) should be screwed by at least 20
mm into the thread of the boring trestle, and into the thread of the grip head,
in order to guarantee a stable support. Use a piece of wood or metal to distribute
the pressure force of the quick-action upright evenly on the ceiling or wall.
3.4 Dry-boring with drill upright
ROLLER’S Centro S1, ROLLER’S Centro S3 and ROLLER’S Centro SR
Secure the drill upright using one of the methods described in 3.3. Insert the
drill collar (13) of the drive unit into the mounting in the clamping angle (10), and
tighten the fi llister head screw(s) (8) with an SW 6 hexa gon socket head wrench.
Screw the selected ROLLER’S universal diamond core drilling crown/ROLLER’S
universal diamond core drilling crown LS onto the drive spindle (11) of the drive
unit and lightly hand-tighten. There is no need to tighten it with a wrench.
Use dust extraction and a suitable safety vacuum cleaner/dust extractor, e.g.
ROLLER’S Protector M (see 2.4.2.). The diamond core drilling crown could be
damaged by overheating if the dust produced by dry drilling is not sucked off.
There is also a risk of injury when the drilling dust compressed in the gap blocks
the diamond core drilling crown. If you have to work without dust extraction in
fi ne-pored material, the diamond core drilling crown should be Protectored back
as often as possible and pushed forward again with a slight swing so that the
drilling dust is pushed out of the drilling gap. Suitable safety equipment, e.g.
respirator, disposable overalls, must be used. Observe the national regulations.
Make sure that the suction hose of the safety vacuum cleaner/dust extractor does
not kink and impair the dust extraction. Also make sure that no fragments of stone
or other objects jam in the diamond core drilling crown, the suction rotor ((46)
accessory art. no. 180160) and/or the suction hose. Empty the dust bag of the
safety vacuum cleaner/dust extractor early and clean/renew the fi lter regularly.
Observe the operating instructions of the safety vacuum cleaner/dust extractor.
Switch on the drive unit with safety inching switch (21). To do this, push forward
the switch-on lock and press the safety inching switch at the same time. Push
the switch-on lock forward again to lock the safety inching switch (Centro S1
and Centro S3). In Centro SR the knob next to the safety inching switch (21)
must be pressed to lock the switch (21) when pressed. Hold the diamond core
drilling crown by the insulated grip surfaces, move forward slowly with the feed
lever (4) and start tapping carefully. Once the diamond core drilling crown has
engaged all-round, the feed rate can be increased. If the drive unit is stopped
due to excessive feed pressure, or becomes blocked as a result of resistance
in the drilling gap, the multi-function elec tronic system reduces the motor current
– and thus the turning speed of the drive unit – to a minimum. The drive unit
does not shut down how ever. As the feed pressure is reduced, the turning
speed of the drive unit is increased once more. This procedure, even if it is
repea ted several times in succession, prevents damage to the drive unit. If the
motor remains stopped despite the reduction in feed pressure, the drive unit
must be shut down and the diamond core drilling crown freed manually (see 5.).

ROLLER’S Centro S2/3,5
Loosen the two screws (52) on the fl ange of the ROLLER’S Bohrständer T,
insert ROLLER’S Centro S2/3,5 in the guide (53). Hold the drive machine and
tighten the screws (52). Tighten the locking nut. Screw the selected diamond
core drill crown to the drive spindle (11) of the drive machine and tighten by
hand with a slight swing. There is no need to use an open-ended wrench for
tightening. Switch on the drive unit with the rocker switch (21a). Hold the diamond
core drilling crown by the insulated grip surfaces, move forward slowly with the
feed lever (4) and start tapping carefully. Once the diamond core drilling crown
has engaged all-round, the feed rate can be increased. If the drive unit is

ROLLER’S Centro DP
NOTICE
NOTICE
For dry drilling in concrete/steel-reinforced concrete with ROLLER’S Centro
DP and the ROLLER’S dry diamond core drilling crowns LS, it is necessary to
switch on the micro-pulse technology and use a suitable safety vacuum cleaner/
dust extractor of dust class M, e.g. ROLLER’S Protector M, for dust extraction.
For drilling in masonry and other materials, the micro-pulse technology can be
switched off and a suitable safety vacuum cleaner/dust extractor, e.g. ROLLER’S
Protector M, must be used. Observe the national regulations.
Fix the drill stand in one of the ways described in 3.3. N.B.: The vacuum fastening
is not approved for drilling with ROLLER’S Centro DP. Insert the drill collar (13)
of the drive unit into the mounting in the clamping angle (10) and tighten the
fi llister head screw(s) (8) with a size 6 Allen key. Screw the selected diamond
core drilling crown onto the drive spindle (11) of the drive unit and lightly hand-
tighten. There is no need to tighten it with an open-ended wrench. Switch on the
micro-pulse technology. To do this, turn the micro-pulse technology adjusting
ring (Fig. 10 (69)) to the detent position so that the red markings are in line.
When drilling in masonry and other materials, the micro-pulse technology can
be switched off by turning the micro-pulse technology adjusting ring (69) to the
detent position so that the red markings are not in line.
Connect a suitable safety vacuum cleaner/dust extractor, e.g. ROLLER’S
Protector M, to ROLLER’S Centro DP (see 2.4.2.). If the dust produced by dry
drilling is not removed, the diamond core drilling crown may overheat and suffer
damage. There is also a risk of injury when the drilling dust compressed in the
gap blocks the diamond core drilling crown Observe the national regulations.
Make sure that the suction hose of the safety vacuum cleaner/dust extractor
does not kink and impair the dust extraction. Also make sure that no loosened
lumps of rock or other objects jam in the diamond core drilling crown, the drive
unit’s suction rotor and/or the suction hose. Empty the dust bag of the safety
vacuum cleaner/dust extractor early and clean/renew the fi lter regularly. Observe
the operating instructions of the safety vacuum cleaner/dust extractor.
Switch on the drive unit with safety inching switch (21). To do this, push forward
the switch-on lock and press the safety inching switch at the same time. Push
the switch-on lock forward again to lock the safety inching switch. Hold the
diamond core drilling crown by the insulated grip surfaces, move forward slowly
with the feed lever (4) and start tapping carefully. It may be an advantage to
switch off the micro-pulse technology for tapping. Once the diamond core drilling
crown has engaged all-round, the feed rate can be increased If the drive unit
is stopped due to excessive thrust pressure or becomes blocked as a result
of resistance in the drilling gap, the multi-function electronic system reduces
the motor current and thus the turning speed of the drive unit to a minimum.
However, the drive unit does not switch off. If the thrust pressure is reduced, the
turning speed of the drive unit increases again. This process does not damage
the drive unit even if it is repeated several times. If the motor remains stopped
despite the reduction in thrust pressure, the drive unit must be shut down and
the diamond core drilling crown freed manually (see 5.).
