a. Grip the saw firmly. Hold the chain saw firmly with both hands when the motor is
running. Use a firm grip with thumbs and fingers encircling the chain saw handles.
b. Do not overreach.
c. Keep proper footing and balance at all times.
d. Don’t let the nose of the guide bar contact a log, branch, ground or other obstruction.
e. Don’t cut above shoulder height.
f. Use devices such as low kickback chain, guide bar nose guards, chain brakes and special
guide bars that reduce the risks associated with kickback.
g. Only use replacement bars and chains specified by the manufacturer or the equivalent.
15. Do not touch the guide bar nose to any object. Tip contact may cause guide bar to move
suddenly upward and backwards.
16. Use only identical Oregon ® Chain and bar replacement components.
17. Inspect before every use; do not use if parts are loose, missing, or damaged.

20. Gasoline fuel and fumes are flammable, and potentially explosive. Use proper fuel storage
and handling procedures. Do not store fuel or other flammable materials nearby.
21. Have multiple ABC class fire extinguishers nearby.
22. Operation of this equipment may create sparks that can start fires around dry vegetation.
A spark arrestor may be required. The operator should contact local fire agencies for laws
or regulations relating to fire prevention requirements.
23. Use only oil and fuel recommended in the “Specifications” section of this manual.
24. Do not operate in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids,
gases, or dust. Gasoline-powered engines may ignite the dust or fumes.
25. Do not cover the engine or equipment during operation.
26. Do not operate the equipment with known leaks in the engine’s fuel system.
27. When spills of fuel or oil occur, they must be cleaned up immediately. Dispose of fluids
and cleaning materials as per any local, state, or federal codes and regulations. Store oil
rags in a bottom-ventilated, covered, metal container.
