Protective devices
The TITAN winch is an incomplete machine. For safe oper-
ation protective devices need to be installed.
Protective devices must fulfill the requirements according to
EN ISO 13849 Category 1.
Performance Level C for control circuits built with electro-
mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic components
And Category 2.
Performance Level C for control circuits built with electron-
ic or programmable components.
•
Rope end monitoring device, for 3/5 safety wraps.
•
Overload protection, via an mechanical pressure relieve
valve.
7.6.1
Overload Protection
A fail safe overload protection needs to be installed. The
overload protection must ensure that the winch hoisting
force is limited to F
max
= 1.2 x F
rated
.
This must be done using a mechanical pressure relief
valve. Additionally the ROTZLER MCD can be used to im-
plement an additional overload protection.
A pressure relief valve must be installed to ensure that the
max pressure at the motor does not exceed P
sys
max =
delta p max + py max
7.6.2
Rope end shut-off
The rope fixation on the drum requires minimum 3 remain-
ing wraps of rope on the drum to ensure save rope fixation.
This must be ensured by using a rope end control system,
which detects when the minimum number of wraps is
reached during winching out. The system must ensure safe
stop of winch. Once rope end is reached, only rope in must
be possible in normal operation mode.
ROTZLER offers a rope end sensor as a separate option or
in combination with an MCD system which can be used in a
system to fulfill this requirement.
