Winch leaks oil (cont.).
Gear oil leaks from the final base
bleeding valve because:
• Bleeding valve is damaged.
• A damaged brake shaft seal is
leaking hydraulic oil into the rope
drum. Then, this hydraulic oil es-
capes through the bleeding valve.
• Replace the bleeding valve.
• The rope drum fills with hydraulic oil if
the brake shaft seal is damaged. If this
occurs, disassemble the brake and re-
place the brake shaft seal. Replace the
rope drum seals if they are leaking also.
Inspect both areas between the rope
drum and bases for oil leakage resulting
from damaged rope drum seals.
Gear oil leaks from between the
primary base and rope drum flange
due to a damaged rope drum seal
or bearing flange O-ring.
Disassemble and inspect the affected
parts. Inspect the corresponding sealing
surfaces and sealing ring sets; replace if
required.
