3. Operation with 12V DC supply
A safety fuse must be installed in the power supply between the battery and
the cooler (for 12V max. 15A).
Before use verify if the voltage of the battery complies with the voltage
indicated on the rating label on the back of the cooler. If the electrical
specifications are correct plug the 12V connection cable into the back of the
cooler and then into the 12V socket/cigarette lighter of your vehicle (Fig. 4).
When the cooler is powered by a car battery, only switch the cooler on while
the car is running. If the appliance remains switched on when the car is
stopped, the battery will be discharged and it may be impossible to restart
the engine.
When operating at 12V the temperature cannot be regulated by the
thermostat knobs. For switching off the cooler disconnect the 12V
plug from the socket.
Useful Hints:
It is recommended to pre-cool the cooler before starting a journey on mains supply and to put only pre-cooled goods inside.
This guarantees a more efficient cooling performance.
4. Operation with Gas
When connecting the cooler with gas do not use any other energy source at
the same time (230V mains supply or 12V DC supply).
It is not allowed to connect natural gas or town gas; it is only suitable for
Butane/Propane gas.
The rating label on the back of the cooler indicates the gas pressure in mbar.
An appropriate regulator has to be installed between gas bottle and cooler.
Before connecting the cooler to the gas bottle make sure that the valve of
the gas bottle is closed. Always use an approved gas hose required by the
national conditions. The flexible hose connecting the appliance to the gas
container is to be no longer than 1.5m (regulator and hose are not supplied)
(Fig. 5). Ensure the position of the hose ensures it is not subject to twisting.
Should the National conditions require it then the type of connecting hose
must be changed to ensure compliance with such local regulations.
Only connect the cooler to a gas bottle in well-ventilated areas, away from
inflammable material. Stay away from heat sources and open flames. Do not
obstruct the ventilation opening of the container compartment. Precautions
should be taken to ensure when changing the gas container, that it shall be
carried out away from a source of ignition. Precautions shall be taken to
comply with national regulations relating to the operation of gas appliances
whilst the vehicle is in motion.
Check the tightness of the connections with soapy water. In the case of soap
bubbles appearing after opening the valve of the gas bottle, do not operate
the cooler. Only use the gas bottle standing upright and at least 1 metre away
from the burner.
Under the small flap on top of the cooler are two knobs. The right knob with
the marking ‘Press’ and ‘Max’ serves for switching on the unit when operating
on gas.
This control knob is a combination of ignition and temperature control
(Fig. 6).
