SaphIR

K2 Keypad

Programmable Infrared Control

The SaphIR K2 is an in-wall keypad that provides
infrared control of up to eight audio-video sources
and a stereo or home theater receiver or amplifier.

The keypad features a simple design and intuitive
layout. A 12-character LCD panel displays source
names, command confirmation, and programming
menus. Either a green or amber backlight can be
selected for the display and control keys.

A built-in IR sensor with visual feedback and pass-
through allows remote control of the K2 and virtu-
ally any IR-controlled component in the system. A
programmable power management feature con-
trols the power state of the components.

The SaphIR K2 is customizable to suit virtually any
audio-video application. It contains an extensive
library of IR codes to select discs, tracks, channels,
volume, and other settings for most audio and
video components. It can also learn IR commands
for components and other devices not in the library.
A powerful macro feature allows the creation of up
to 132 ten-step macros for advanced applications
such as lowering a screen and dimming the lights in
a home theater.

The K2 can be programmed through a simple yet
robust programming menu or by using Russound’s
free SaphIR EZpro software, which can be down-
loaded from www.russound.com/doccenter.

A typical application for the SaphIR K2 is controlling
the second zone of a multiroom receiver or proces-
sor. If the receiver or processor has an IR control
port for the second zone, the K2 can remotely
control the second zone from that room.

The SaphIR K2 can be used either individually or
in a single-zone system with multiple K2 keypads.
When used together, the keypads have global

communication with each other. All keypads can be
turned on or off from any keypad. Also, program-
ming can be copied from one keypad to the others
in the system.

SaphIR K2 keypads can also be used to create a
simple custom system with multiple stereo
receivers. A separate receiver is dedicated to each
zone, all sharing other sources such as CD players,
cable boxes, and DVD players. This gives each zone
its own tuner and individual volume control as well
as access to other sources. Each K2 provides a built-
in speaker relay to mute a pair of speakers in the
room whenever the keypad is turned off.

The SaphIR K2 keypad comes in an elegant Decora

®

style with a screwless wall plate and is available in
five standard decorator colors. The optional SRC1
and SRC2 remote controls are available to control
the keypad and connected components.
