9.- MAINTENANCE BYPASS SWITCH (M9).
• A Maintenance Bypass switch integrated in the
UPS
allows to select the feeding of the loads over the output of the equipment or
over the commercial mains. This switch is a make-before-break type (no black out on the feeding of the loads due to the transference)
and it allows to supply the loads while there is a fault on the unit and you are waiting for the reparation on it. It also facilitates the
operations both preventive maintenance and
UPS
repairing meanwhile the loads are still supplied during this procedure.
•
The Maintenance Bypass integrated in the
UPS
is a very useful part, but an inadequate use of the same one, can have
irreversible consequences as much for the
UPS
as for the connected loads to the output of the same one. Therefore, it is
important to make the manoeuvres as they are described in this chapter.
9.1.- Bypass types definition (Automatic, Manual and Maintenance).
• Automatic Bypass. It is referred to the automatic switch of the internal Bypass line of the
UPS
.
If the parameter option «HE MODE ON» is activated, the
UPS
is like an «OFF-LINE».It means that is supplying permanently output
voltage through the Automatic Bypass «BYPASS MODE» and it transfers the load to the inverter when the mains is incorrect.
The
UPS
transfers to Automatic Bypass for overload or internal faults.
• Manual Bypass. It is referred to the option of the selectable parameter. By choosing «BYPASS ENABLE», it is forced the transference
of the loads to the own Automatic Bypass of the
UPS
, not being able to return automatically back meanwhile this option is selected.
• Maintenance Bypass. It is referred to the switch
(M9)
, protected by the cover
(Tc)
.
9.2.- Transfer to Maintenance Bypass (switch (M9) to position «2 or BYPASS»).
9.2.1.- For models until 12.000 VA.
• Select at the
(LCD)
panel the parameter «MANUAL BYPASS» option to «BYPASS ENABLE». See the described procedure in
the chapter 10 and table 5 of the section 10.5.
• Remove the screws that fix the Maintenance Bypass
(M9)
cover
(Tc)
.
• Change the position of Maintenance Bypass switch
(M9)
to «2 or BYPASS». The loads are supplied directly from the mains. In
equipments with output transformer either for insulation or voltage adaptation (internal at the
UPS
case), the loads are still
directly supplied through it.
• Shutdown the inverter (press the
(ON/OFF)
key during as minimum 3 seconds) and switch «OFF» the circuit-breakers
(M1)
and
(M2)
of the
UPS
. The equipment is completely shutdown and it can be intervened for preventive maintenance or repairing.
9.2.2.- For 15.000 VA models.
• Select the parameter option «MANUAL BYPASS» to «BYPASS ENABLED» in
(LCD)
. See described procedure in chapter 10 and
table 5 of section 10.5.
• Remove the screws that fix the cover
(Tc)
of Maintenance Bypass
(M9)
and output
(M3)
.
• Change the Maintenance Bypass switch
(M9)
to position «2 or BYPASS», and turn «OFF» switch
(M3)
. Loads are fed from
mains directly. The equipments with voltage adapter transformer at the output or isolation transformer (inside the
UPS’s
