Application Upgrade
The latest application revisions will be posted on the Sam4POS Android Software product page on
the CRS web site:
https://www.crs-usa.com/products/software
. Application software will be revised
continually as anomalies ore identified and fixed, and as new features are added.
Updating Existing Installations
New Sam4POS application software can be loaded onto the terminal without affecting the current
program. All current programming will remain intact and new features or options will be added.
However, it is always a good practice to backup the current database before changing the application
software; PROGRAM MODE \ SYSTEM \ DATABASE \ DATABASE BACKUP. See “Backup
Programs” on page 58 for details.
APK Install
The APK Install provides an easy means to update the SAM4POS application without having to exit
out to the main Android splash screen. The most current SAM4POS Application files can be obtained
from the CRS Web site at:
https://www.crs-usa.com/products/software
. Updating the application file
does not clear any programing changes you have made.
The AKP files are specific to the type of terminal you have. When you download and unzip the file
from the CRS web site, there will be three different APK files, (a) (b) and (c).

SAP-530/SAP-4800 terminals use the

APK file
•
SAP-6600 uses the
(b)
APK file
•
HM616 Tablet uses the
(c)
application file
Updates can be performed locally using a USB drive.
1.
Copy the new
SAM4POS APK
file to a USB flash drive and insert the USB drive into the
SAM4POS terminal.

From the
SYSTEM
menu selection screen, press
APK INSTALL
. The file selection screen
appears.
