Start-up and configuration
The work described in this section is only to be performed by personnel appropriately quali-
fied to carry out such tasks.
7.1 Initializing the actuator
Risk of injury due to the actuator stem extending or retracting.

Do not touch or block the actuator stem.
The process is disturbed by the movement of the actuator stem.
Î
Do not perform the initialization while the process is running. First isolate the plant by
closing the shut-off valves.
The initialization is performed in Code 5. During initialization, the actuator stem moves from
its current position to the 100 % end position. Starting from the 100 % end position, the actu
-
ator stem moves to the 0 % end position.
Initialization is not possible in manual mode.
The 0 % and 100 % end positions depend on the operating direction used (see Annex A).

Before initialization, mount the actuator on the valve as described in the 'Installation' sec-
tion.
Î
Set the automatic mode (see the 'Operation' section).
