4. Connecting Telephone Lines
4.1
Safety Precautions
To limit the risk of personal injury, always follow these precautions before connecting
PSTN circuits:
¡Ü
Never install telephone wiring during a lightning storm.
¡Ü
Never install telephone jacks in a wet location unless the jack is specifically designed
for wet locations.
¡Ü
Never touch uninsulated telephone wires or terminals unless the telephone line has been
disconnected at the network interface.
¡Ü
Use caution when installing or modifying telephone lines.
4.2
Loop Start Lines
¡Ü
Using one pair twisted #24 AWG or #26 AWG jumper wire, cross-connect each loop start
C.O. line to the trunk port.
