Figure 36 below shows a Network Extender behind a firewall without NAT/PAT.
In this architecture, the Network Extender is protected by a firewall that is
blocking many inbound ports. Port 50 to support ESP must be opened bi-
directionally.

Figure 37 below shows the Network Extender is outside the firewall and on the
DMZ. Some protection might be in place and the rules stated above must be
followed. For the most reliable and secure performance, it is recommended that the
Network Extender be placed behind a firewall.
The Network Extender enables the IT administrator to deploy the solution in
almost any scenario. The embedded web server allows for flexible configurations.
The following sections detail the configuration options that are supported.
