Installation Guide
Working with cables
You can connect the following cables to the rear of your server: SMP Expansion,
power, RXE Expansion, SCSI, Ethernet, USB, video, auxiliary pointing device, and
RXE management cables.
Notes:
1.
Refer to the following illustration to locate the connectors on the back of your
server.
2. If your server model came with an operating system installed,
see the software documentation provided with
your server for additional cabling instructions.
3.
The illustrations in this document might differ slightly from your hardware.
To effectively manage the cables on this server, keep groups of cables secured
together, and do not run cables across the back of the server.
Notes:
1.
Use cable ties to bundle similar cables together.
2.
Use hook-and-loop fasteners to secure the cable bundles to the vertical rails of
the rack cabinet.
3.
When possible, separate data and power cables.
4.
Do not secure cables too tightly. Overtightening can cause internal damage to the
cables.
Connecting cables:
This section describes how to connect cables to the SMP
Expansion Port, system power connectors, RXE Expansion Port, SCSI port, USB
port, video port, auxiliary pointing device connector, keyboard port, Ethernet port, and
RXE Management port. When instructed, refer to the appropriate documentation for
more details.
