EIA-232C
EIA-232C is a single-ended, asynchronous or synchronous interface.
It is equivalent combination of V.24(connector pin allocation) and
V.28(electrical characteristics) specifications. EIA-232C interface is typically
limited to 115kbps, although new ICs can support , and typically
limited to 6m(short distance) Both receive and transmit clocks are driven by
one end of a connection. Usually, DB-25 connector is used for EIA-232C
interface.
EIA-449
EIA-449 interface is a combination of single-ended and differential
synchronous interface and also known as V.36. It uses V.11(EIA-422)
electrical characteristics for data and timing(differential) and V.10(EIA-423)
electrical characteristics for link management control signals(single-ended).
EIA-449 is typically limited to a maximum throughput of 10Mbps. For the
interface, separate clock lines are used for receiving and transmitting data and
DB-37 connector are used.
EIA-530/EIA-530A
EIA-530/EIA-530A interface is a combination single-ended/differential
synchronous interface. EIA-530/EIA-530A uses V.11(EIA-422) electrical
characteristics for data and timing(differential). It uses V.10(EIA-423)
electrical characteristics for link management control signals(single-ended).
For EIA-530, V.11 differential signals of DTR/DSR such as CC(A), CC(B),
CD(A), CD(B) are used. For EIA-530A, V.10 single-ended signals of
DTR/DSR such as CC, CD are used. EIA-530/EIA-530A interface is typically
limited to a maximum throughput of 10Mbps. For the interface, separate clock
lines are used for receiving and transmitting data and DB-25 connector is used.
X.21
X.21 is a differential synchronous interface and uses V.11(EIA-422) electrical
characteristics. It is typically limited to a maximum throughput of 10 Mbps.
For the interface, a single clock line is used for receiving and transmitting data
and DB-15 connector is used.
