Safety Precautions cont’d ...

 6.

For the safety of others and that of the operator, observe the following precautions:

a. Keep observers and bystanders away from the fl oor stripper and its immediate working environment

(i.e.: the room or staircase that is being stripped etc.) while the machine is in use.

b. Before using the fl oor stripper, power on the fl oor stripper and observe if there is any unusual wobbling

or vibrations that indicate poorly installed blades or bushings that may require replacement.  DO NOT
USE IF MACHINE SHOWS SIGNS OF ABUSE OR POOR MAINTENANCE.

c.

 Stop

operations or if anyone or anything (i.e.: humans, animals, debris etc.) approaches from any

direction while the machine is in operation.

d.

Stop

work and turn off the fl oor stripper if it hits any debris that jams the machine or causes it to

labour unnecessarily. Inspect the fl oor stripper and surrounding environment for any possible causes.

e. If the machine is jammed, turn the unit off using the main switch and

disconnect

the fl oor stripper

from its power source

before

attempting to clear any jams in the unit.

f. Stop all work, turn off fl oor stripper, unplug power cord(s) and ensure that motor is turned off and

cooled before performing any diagnostics or repairs.

g. VIBRATIING FLOOR STRIPPER BLADES CAN CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH.  DO NOT ATTEMPT
TO PERFORM ANY REPAIRS, SERVICE, OR DIAGNOSTICS OR TO TRANSPORT OR MOVE THE UNIT

UNTIL THE BLADE AND MOTOR HAVE BOTH COME TO A COMPLETE STOP.  FAILURE TO DO SO MAY
RESULT IN SEVERE INJURY OR DEATH.

h.

Never leave machine unattended

i.

DO NOT

, under any circumstances, operate machine if any of the following conditions are applicable:

i. Any impairment (i.e.: medical conditions, medicinal side-effects, alcohol, drugs etc.) of the

operator.

ii. The operator has not read or understood the operator’s manual for this machine.
iii. The operator does not clearly understand the operations of the machine.
iv. The machine is in need of repair
v. The operator is inappropriately attired to operate the machine.

7. Due to the nature of the machine and the tasks that it is designed to perform, consider the following
   cautionary recommendations:

a. The machine is designed to operate at optimum effi ciency.

DO NOT FORCE THE MACHINE TO

FUNCTION FASTER THAN THE RATE AT WHICH IT HAS BEEN SET

.

b.

ALWAYS

guard against electrical shock.  DO NOT come into contact with grounded surfaces, such as

pipes, radiators, refrigerators etc.

c.

Removing fl ooring materials creates a dusty environment in which the operator should always
   be protected.
