FITTING INSTRUCTIONS:
Although this can be done independently, it is strongly advised that you
get help from another responsible adult when first using the SANAMAMA,
until you are fully confident about putting it on and taking it off unaided.
REMOVING THE
SANAMAMA
To take off the SANAMAMA, reverse the
process, starting by unclipping the waist strap.
Hold onto the shoulder straps, bend your
knees and slowly lean backwards so that your
baby is lying horizontally on a flat comfortable
surface. Slide your arms out and turn around
to undo the side clasps of the pouch seat.
Again in older infants you can squat down until
they are standing behind you before sliding
your arms out of the shoulder straps.

Open the waist strap and the clasps on either
side of the pouch seat and lay the SANAMAMA
on a flat, comfortable surface with the logo
facing outwards. Gently place the baby on his/
her back in the centre of the carrier. Adjust
the button on the elasticised base so that
the bottom of the SANAMAMA is “scooped”
underneath the baby’s bottom.
Draw the front of the pouch seat up between
the baby’s legs and fasten it securely on either
side by closing the side clasps – like putting on
a nappy. Adjust the side clasps if necessary so
that they hold the baby snugly without being
too tight.
Squat down and position
yourself with your back to your
baby. Take one shoulder strap
and slide your arm through
it. At the same time, bring
your other arm behind your
back to hold your baby against
you and lean forward. Switch
arms so that the arm that is
through the shoulder strap is
now supporting your baby and
while still leaning forward,
slide your other arm through
the second shoulder strap. It is
now safe to stand up straight.
Position your baby’s legs on
either side of your waist.
Bring the two sides of the
adjustable waist strap together
underneath the baby’s legs so
that the legs are positioned
above it and rest on it. Close
the side-clasp. You must hear
a “click” to indicate that it is
securely fastened.
(Please note: In younger infants,
it may be more comfortable for
them if you let their legs hang
downwards out the bottom of
the carrier.)
Adjust the waist strap by
pulling on the protruding
piece of fabric. It should
feel snug but not too tight.
Adjust the shoulder straps by
pulling or loosening the straps.
Your shoulders should be
naturally pulled back and the
SANAMAMA should feel secure
and comfortable for you and
your baby.
NOTE: It may be easier with
older infants and young
children to have them stand
while securing them into the
pouch seat and placing your
arms through the shoulder
straps. i.e. through Steps 1-3
