Operation
Trip Offline Alarms
These alarms indicate a problem that needs attention and will affect the proper
operation of the system. The system will not operate when a
Trip Offline
condition is
being displayed. The ac and dc circuit breakers will also open. See Table 9 for the listed
Trip Offline
alarms.
Table 9. PureWave SMS-250 Trip Offline Alarms
Alarm
Description
Reset Type
Ac Breaker Fail
to Close
Indicates the ac circuit breaker is open when it is being
commanded closed
Troubleshooting Tip: Verify that there is not a circuit
breaker Over Current alarm. If there is, reset this alarm.
Verify that the inverter stop is not active by pulling it
out. Check the spring status, if the circuit breaker has
a 'Discharge Spring' message, the motor operator is
not working. The circuit breaker can still be closed
by charging the spring by manually pulling down the
charging handle several times. Reset the PureWave
SMS-250 and see if the circuit breaker closes.
MANUAL
Ac Breaker Fail
to Open
Indicates the ac circuit breaker is closed when it is being
commanded open
Troubleshooting Tip: If the circuit breaker is closed, press
the inverter stop button. This should open the circuit
breaker. If this causes the circuit breaker to open, the
output block on the inverter controls has been damaged.
Replace the output block or the inverter controls.
MANUAL
Auto Reset
Lockout
Indicates the maximum number of resets have been made to
clear the alarm
Troubleshooting Tip: The user can issue a reset to clear
this alarm. The system should then be watched to
determine whether the original alarm comes back. If it
does, troubleshoot the alarm that is causing this alarm,
not this alarm.
MANUAL
BMS Requested
Trip Offline
Indicates the BMS has opened a breaker to stop the inverter
from charging or discharging the battery
Troubleshooting Tip: Check F8. This is used to protect
the 24 Vdc used to power the external dry contact. If
F8 is OK, refer to the battery manufacturer's manual to
troubleshoot the alarm.
SELF
Current Sensor
or Ground Fault
Indicates the sum of the three phase currents is not zero,
resulting in possible malfunctioning controls
Troubleshooting Tip: Contact S&C Electric Company.
MANUAL
Dc Breaker Fail
to Close
Indicates the dc circuit breaker is open when it is being
commanded closed
Troubleshooting Tip: Verify that there is not a circuit
breaker over current alarm. If there is, reset this alarm.
Verify that the inverter stop is not active by pulling it
out. Check the spring status, if the circuit breaker has a
'Discharge Spring' message, the motor operator is not
working. The breaker can still be closed by charging
the spring by manually pulling down the charging
handle several times. Reset the PureWave SMS-250 and
determine whether the circuit breaker closes.
MANUAL
Dc Link Shorted
Indicates the dc link voltage is increasing very slowly with
possible overheating to dc link pre-charge resistors
Troubleshooting Tip: This may be caused by the pre-
charge key switch in the OFF position. If so turn the
pre-charge key switch ON. If the key switch is on and this
alarm is active, contact S&C Electric Company.
