Follow these steps for the power electronic switch and switchgear enclosure:

Decouple the input and output operators.
q
Use the key-flow procedure (if applicable) to ground the PES.
q
Visually inspect the outside of the enclosure for signs of deterioration or rust.

If yes, clean the rust and paint using the correct paint color for the enclosure.

If deterioration or rust is found, but not cleaned and painted, why?
q
Inspect the enclosure doors. Verify the door seals are intact by closing each door.
q
Inspect the seals between the enclosure and concrete. Reseal any cracks with DAP
concrete sealant.
q
Inspect the cooling air inlet and outlet areas. Clean any debris and obstructions that can
restrict air flow going into and out of the enclosure. See Figure 20 for the location of the
cooling air inlet and outlet areas.

Inspect air conditioners at the top of the enclosure. Clean any debris or obstructions
that can restrict air flow. See Figure 20 above for the location of the air conditioners.
q
Inspect the seals between the enclosure and concrete. Reseal and cracks with DAP®
concrete sealant.
q
Open the PES door and verify there is no power present.
q
Measure the resistance (in both directions) for each module within the PES. Record the
findings in the table below:
