4.1.2.
Fiber Ethernet Ports
The switch supports up to three fiber Ethernet ports depending on the switch variant. On the 6-port variant ports ‘5‘
and ‚‘6’ are 100 Mbps fiber SFP slot Ethernet ports and on the 9-port variant ports ‘8‘ and ‘9’ are dedicated 100 Mpbs
fiber SFP slots Ethernet ports and Port 7 is variable and may be ordered as 100 Mbps copper RJ45 or fiber SFP slot.
When connecting a 100 Mbps fiber Ethernet port use the SFP slot that accepts plug in fiber transceivers that typically
have an LC or SC connectors and are available with multimode, single mode, long-haul (for connectors up to 80+ km)
or special-application transceivers.
For each fiber port there is a transmit (TX) and receive (RX) signal. When making fiber optic connections ensure that
the transmit (TX) port of the switch connects to the receive (RX) port of the other device, and the receive (RX) port of
the switch connects to the transmit (TX) port of the other device.

Laser!
To avoid ocular exposure and a possible eye injury:
•
Do not attempt to view optical connectors that might be emitting laser energy
•
Do not power up the laser without connecting the laser to the optical fiber and
putting the cover in position, as laser outputs will emit infrared laser light at this
point.
